Kalara  Bhaja - Bitter Gourd Fried in mustard oil.

 

 
 
Ingredients for 2 Portions:
  • Kalara (Bitter Gourd) – 300 gm
  • Rasuna (Garlic) – 30 gm
  • Pancha Phutana( Pancha Phoran) – 1 tsp
  • Sukhila Lanka (Dry Chili) -2pc
  • Sorisha Tela (Mustard Oil) – 4 tbsp
  • Haladi Gunda (Turmeric Powder) – 1 tsp
  • Luna (Salt) – as per taste.

 

 
Preparation:

  • Cut the bitter gourd into thin round slices.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan; put the pancha phoran, garlic and dry chili. Fry it till the garlic turns golden brown.
  • Add the bitter gourd slices, turmeric powder and salt. Stir it and cover it.
  • Lower the flame, stirring it time to time and fry it till the bitter gourd is well cooked.
  • Then fry the bitter gourd in a high flame till it turns golden brown.
  • Remove from flame and serve it.

 

 

 
Notes:

Bitter gourd is helpful for blood pressure and diabetics’ patient.

Bill to rename Orissa to Odisha passed in LS

 

The Orissa (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2010 and Constitution (113th Amendment) Bill, 2010 for change of language were moved by Home Minister P Chidambaram on the basis of resolutions passed by the Orissa Assembly.

The Bills provide for change of name of state to Odisha and language to Odia. Bills were passed by division of votes with all 294 members present in the House voting in favour and none against..
